🗳️A Mom for Montana –
Fighting for Families, Democracy & the Future of America
When I first moved to Montana in 2001, with my children, I lived in Kila in an off the grid cabin. I chopped my own wood for heat. I used a generator to pump water from the creek into the holding tank on the second floor. I put the commercial size propane tank into the 1970 something Subaru and drove on 12 miles of dirt road to get to the small local store to fill the tank. The propane was for hot water and fuel for the gas stove. For an off the grid cabin is was really nice to have hot water, but we did not have an indoor toilet.
I understand hard work. I am not a career woman. I am a woman who has had a series of jobs and the common theme is that they have been in service to others.
• I’ve worked in the healthcare industry caring for people in their homes and in facilities.
• I’ve spent years in the restaurant industry in a variety of positions; waitress, manager, bookkeeper, and owner.
• I have been employed as office manager and operations specialist at different non profits in outdoor education and outdoor recreation.
• I’ve worked as a victim advocate through our local women’s shelter and have advocated for women and children who have experienced sexual assault or domestic violence.
• Today I serve and volunteer my time to Soroptimist International, a worldwide volunteer organization dedicated to empowering women and girls through education.
But I’m not just about service. I’m also a mother, a singer/songwriter, a creator of this website and someone who loves being out in nature—whether it’s hiking, swimming, or snowboarding.
These parts of my life remind me why I’m doing this: so our children can grow up in a world full of opportunity, and so the land we love and the freedoms we cherish are preserved for generations to come.
