Meet Kate

FAMILIES FIRST

Kate McLaughlin - US SENATE - McLaughlin For Montana

I’m running for office because I believe leadership should look like the people it serves — hardworking families, caregivers, small business owners, farmers, and neighbors who show up for each other every day.

I was raised in a family of nine children. The same number of children my grandmother had and my sister has. We grew up with the values of compassion, truth and responsibility.

Like so many people, I’ve balanced work, family, and community, and I know how decisions made in Washington can deeply affect everyday life. I was born in rural Vermont, many of our neighbors were dairy farmers. I remember,  legislation was passed, in the 1980’s, that hit dairy farming especially hard. Thousands of family farms never recovered and had to be sold.

That’s why I believe government should be practical, compassionate, and rooted in real experiences — not politics as usual.

I’m running to put families first. This means advocating for a healthcare solution that works for those who need it and those who might in the future. It is protecting Social Security as responsibility to those who paid into it.

I support education from the teachers to the programs -like early education and in school job training. I stand with agriculture and small businesses, they enrich our communities.

Families First is also protecting the right to our clean air and water, respecting hard work, and making sure rural voices are heard just as clearly as the ones in the cities.

This campaign isn’t about power or ambition — it’s about responsibility. Responsibility to listen. Responsibility to tell the truth. Responsibility to leave things better for the next generation.

I believe in problem-solving over partisanship and community over division. I believe we can disagree without disrespect and move forward together with honesty and integrity.

Most of all, I believe change starts at kitchen tables, in classrooms, on farms, and in neighborhoods across our state. It starts with conversations.

If you believe in a future built on responsibility, opportunity, and care for one another, I’d be honored to earn your support.
